Inspired By The Beach
Is anyone else tired of the winter weather? This morning I woke up and the sun was shining through my window. It gave me the idea to write a new blog post. I’ve been craving the hot sun, blue water and sand between my toes. Today I will be talking about how to create a light and bright costal vibe in your space. I found inspirational spaces and items that will take all of your winter blues away! Read more and find out how to create a “beachy look” inside your own space!
The photo above is a space from one of my clients beautiful bedrooms. Before the room was dark and this wall had a large wooden dresser on it. I decided to lighten things up and created a relaxing seating area by adding in a bench and some artwork. When I found this beach print I knew that it would work perfectly in the space. I took all of my colours and inspiration for the room from that image. I love the striped detail in this pillow and the texture and tassels in the throw blanket. This is like a little beach getaway!
This photo was from a shoot that I did for IKEA Canada. I love the colour pallet in this space and it really reminds me of a beach house bedroom. Adding stripes to your bedding always brings out a nautical feel. Light woods or rattans also bring in some warmth without making the room feel too heavy. I added in a birch wood frame and a small rattan basket to finish off the look. These are small details that make an impact.
I’ve have had this photo saved on my Pinterest for quite some time now. I LOVE the feeling of this space. Adding in some ship lap and using light and bright colours always creates a beachy look. I can feel the sunshine in this photo and hear the waves!
This kitchen is just perfect. I love how all of the walls are white and the island is the perfect shade of blue. The rattan light fixture and textured rug really warms everything up. Don’t be afraid to add some texture to your space, its a great way to make the room feel more cozy and complete!
I am a sucker for beautiful whicker chairs. I love the warmth that this material brings to the space. You can always achieve a costal feel by adding whicker and artwork/photography of water, a beach or even a sail boat. Amazing choices for this space.
You don’t always need to use white and blue to make a space feel costal. I love how Studio Mcgee has added so many light and bright colours and textures with their pillows. The blue sofa and whicker chairs work so well together and the shiplap ceiling is the cherry on top. A look like this brings me back to the beach!
